Volunteers arrive at 9 a.m. Saturday Mornings 511 Constance Ave.
Open here for Volunteer Information
Thanks for showing interest in volunteering at the HC Living Edge Free Market. Here are some things you will need to know.
Volunteers should arrive at 9 a.m. Saturday morning ready to serve our community. You will need to wear the gloves provided when handling any food.
Tasks will be delegated by your team leader. There may be a team leader for setup, one for sorting and one for table arrangement and distribution of groceries. They will provide direction and answer your questions for the various tasks.
The Market will open at 11 am even though some patrons are lining up before 11 am. Others have left the site with tier number expecting the Market will commence at 11 am, therefore an early start would be unfair to them. No second shops will be allowed until close to 12 noon so as many patrons as possible will have the chance to obtain groceries.
Volunteers are given the opportunity to get their groceries first before the 11 a.m. market opening. For the early shop, volunteers will be served by the team and will receive quantities of groceries proportional to the number of patrons expected for the day.
To have this privilege volunteers are to arrive by 9 a.m. and to be working up to the time of the early shop. We would like volunteers who have the privilege of the early shop to help with the aftermarket clean up and takedown.
If we have too many volunteers show up for a Market, it will be on a first come first served basis that the number of volunteers will be determined. The extra number of volunteers will shop at 11 a.m. with our other patrons.
If market patrons want to use the washroom, there must be a volunteer to escort them in and out of Neighbourhood House. We are guests, using their facility, so we need to be good hosts and make sure their facility is secure.
