There is nothing better for a person than that he should make his soul enjoy good in his work. This too, I see, is from the hand of God. Eccl 3:22
“Because your love is better than life . . . my soul will be satisfied as with the richest of foods.” (Ps. 63)
You will never achieve satisfaction if you make the goal of your life achieving satisfaction.
My heart is not proud, O Lord. My eyes are not haughty . . .
I have stilled and quieted my soul; like a weaned child with his mother, like a weaned child is my soul within me. Ps 131
So soul satisfaction is not about acquiring the right things but about acquiring the right soul.
Come, all you who are thirsty, come to the waters; and you who have no money, come, buy and eat! Come; buy wine and milk without money and without cost. Why spend money on what is not bread, and your labour on what does not satisfy? Listen to me, and eat what is good and your soul will delight in the richest of fare.
